Main fields of research and expertise
Anne PANDO has experience in soil ecology: study of interactions between plants, soil and macrofauna (earthworms-termites); setting and monitoring of experiments; assays of enzymatic activity in soils; characterisation of microbial communities within soil using molecular biology techniques : DNA extraction, PCR, DGGE,RFLP, and more recently qPCR. The aim of her research is to study the biological functioning of soils and their evolution. Since a few years, her activities are involved in urban ecology projects, particularly on constructed technosols.
Expatriate in Laos for two years, she studies the environmental determinants of soil and water contamination by two bacteria: Burkholderia pseudomallei, responsible for melioidosis in humans, and Escherichia coli, a bacterium indicating faecal contamination in rivers.
