Main fields of research and expertise
Over the last 15 years, Mai HUONG have worked at national and international levels in multi-disciplinary teams, in aquaculture, nutrient dynamic and environment in aquaculture and ecotoxicology. Recently, she have also worked on heavy metal toxicity in soil. Her current activities on research include: (i) developing an ecological engineering platform for future domestic waste water treatment (SMART-CLEAN-GARDEN), (ii) study on POP pesticide residues and heavy metal in sediment and water and using aquatic species as bioindicators for POP pesticides and heavy metal toxicity in Southern Vietnam, and (iii) understanding the bioaccumulation mechanism of toxicants in organisms living in soil/sediment and water bodies in Vietnam. Her teaching at USTH is shared between Bsc level courses (Water Pollution, Environmental Toxicology, Biological indicator for environment, Environmental Management) and Msc level courses (Water Quality and Public Health, Ecotoxicology and Bioindicators, Ecosystem Functioning and Aquatic Living Resources).
