Passing of PHAM DINH Rinh

PHAM DINH Rinh has passed away on September 24, 2026. Rinh was a researcher in soil science and hydrology, Deputy Head of the Department of Soil and fertilizer analysis center, Soils and Fertilizers Research Institute (SFRI), Vietnam.

He was a loyal partner in the MSEC program, which later became M-TROPICS.

For this long-term research program, he consistently collected and validated hydrometeorological data from the Dong Cao watershed over the course of some fifteen years. He presented these findings at annual meetings held in Laos, Thailand, and, of course, Vietnam. These data are part of an international database and have contributed to several scientific articles.

He also took part in various experiments alongside IRD scientists and helped train numerous international students with care and kindness.

He was also a cheerful companion who enlivened social gatherings with his powerful, beautiful voice during festive karaoke sessions.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters. All current and former members of MSEC/M-TROPICS are thinking of you and your family with deep emotion. You will remain in our memories.
