Main fields of research and expertise

Norbert Silvera is an electronics engineer of the French Institute of Research for Development (IRD), with 34 years of experience in working with agronomists, hydrologists and soils scientists. He is used to train local colleagues and students in electronics designing, testing and maintenance. He participates in publishing papers specialized on the impacts of land use changes on soil erosion and hydrology. He tooks out international patents on several original systems dealing with water level, velocity and discharge measurements. Since October 2020 he is posted at DALaM (Department of Agricultural Land Management), Vientiane, Laos. His activities aims at managing M-TROPICS/MSEC hydro-erosion and climatic database including the small catchments of Laos, Thailand and Vietnam. He also develops a new generation of water level sensors dedicated to hydrological stations of the MSEC network, and recently develops low cost acquisition systems based on ARDUINO technology.
