Renewal of the MoU between DLAM and IRD

On 19th June 2026, Mr Virana SONNASINH, Director General of the Department of Land Administration and Management (DLAM) and Dr Sabrina Locatelli representative of  the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD) in Lao PDR, in the presence of  the Deputy Head of the Ministry’s Office, Deputy Heads of Departments, representatives of relevant departments, experts from both sides, and invited guests,  signed the renewal of an agreement of scientific and technical cooperation between the two institutions for the period 2026-2030.

The signing of this renewal testifies to the commitment, trust and joint scientific development that have united the two institutions for more than 25 years, in order to address socio-environmental challenges by improving the sustainability of agricultural land, both from the perspective of food security (combating soil fertility loss due to erosion) and public health (water contamination by pathogenic bacteria), while taking into account the effects of climate change (e.g., the impact of increased rainfall on erosion flows and the spread of pollutants).
